Affordable Homes for Carbis Bay: Treveth Invites Residents to Have Their Say
Cornish developer Treveth is set to bring a new affordable-led housing scheme to Carbis Bay, with the local community invited to participate in shaping the plans.
Drop-in Session Announced
The development, located on Teyla Tor Road, will deliver a mix of homes for affordable rent, shared ownership, and open market rent, prioritised for those who live, work, or have family connections in the area. To introduce the project and hear from local residents, Treveth is hosting an informal drop-in session on Wednesday, 8th January 2025, from 2pm to 7pm at The Studio, Una St Ives, Little Trevarrack, Laity Lane, Carbis Bay, St Ives, TR25 3HW.
This event offers an opportunity to meet the team behind the scheme and share feedback, which will help shape the designs before a planning application is submitted in spring 2025.
Commitment to Local Communities
Treveth, launched by Cornwall Council in 2019, aims to create high-quality, sustainable communities across the county. Emma Rodgers, Head of Land and Planning, expressed the importance of working closely with residents:
“We’re looking forward to bringing forward this development on Teyla Tor Road and delivering new homes for local people in a range of tenures, including open market rent, affordable rent and shared ownership in an area of Cornwall where they are most needed.
“Over the coming months we’ll actively engage with the general public and key stakeholders, enabling our team to build a richer understanding of the needs of the local community. Providing invaluable knowledge, this process will help to inform the plans for the scheme, enabling us to deliver proposals that truly answer those needs within Carbis Bay for the benefit of Cornish residents choosing to live and work in the local area.”
A Milestone for Carbis Bay
The Teyla Tor Road project marks Treveth’s first development in Carbis Bay and adds to its growing portfolio of over 375 homes currently under construction in areas such as Tolgus, Liskeard, Newquay, and Bodmin. The developer also manages 180 residential properties and 48 commercial spaces across Cornwall.
As part of its mission, Treveth focuses on providing homes that meet local demand while discouraging second home ownership.
Shaping the Future Together
The designs for the scheme will evolve based on feedback from the January event and ongoing engagement with residents and stakeholders. A second public consultation event, revealing the emerging plans, is expected in early 2025.
