Cornwall GP Breaks Record After Running 384 Miles Non-Stop Around the Cornish Coast
A Cornish GP has set the Fastest Known Time for running the full circumference of Cornwall, completing the 384.1-mile route in just over six days while battling the winds and rain of Storm Amy.
Record-Breaking Challenge
On Sunday 5th October, Elsey Davis, 36, from Camelford, achieved the remarkable feat in 6 days and 8 hours, running an average of 16 hours a day to complete the challenge.
The run covered 384.1 miles and 87,644 feet of elevation, pushing Elsey far beyond her previous limits. Before this challenge, the longest distance she had run in a week was 110 miles — less than a third of what she achieved around Cornwall.
Elsey described the experience as both gruelling and transformative:
“I have never been more broken but somehow the most whole I have felt in a long time. Today I became the first person to run the circumference of Cornwall. 6 days and 8 hours, 384.1 miles 87,644 feet. Every single step was for my mum; the person who gave me the grit, and strength.”

Battling the Storm
The run coincided with strong winds and rain from Storm Amy, with yellow weather warnings issued across the region.
“The distance and the weather took a huge toll on my body,” Elsey said. “That particular part of the coast path was tough, lots of steep steps up and down with sore and swollen knees while battling against 50mph winds.”
Despite the harsh conditions, she continued relentlessly — driven by her mission to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s Research UK in honour of her mum, who was diagnosed with young-onset Alzheimer’s in 2023.

Running for Her Mum
“No distance is too far or too painful for my mum or the fight against Alzheimer’s,” Elsey said.
Her mum joined her for the emotional finish line moment.
“My mum joined me for the finish although she was unable to fully grasp what I had been doing, I could see the joy in her eyes when she ran the last few hundred metres with me with a crowd cheering us on. It’s amazing what you can do driven by love.”

Raising £20,000 for Alzheimer’s Research
Elsey hopes to raise over £20,000 for Alzheimer’s Research UK and is currently 89% of the way to her target.

From GP to Trail Running Champion
Outside of her record-breaking run, Elsey is a professional trail runner for The North Face and a recently qualified GP living in Cornwall with her wife and newborn son Victor.
She discovered trail running during the Covid pandemic while working on the Covid wards in Manchester, finding it to be a source of stress relief. Since switching from road to trail running, she has become one of the most successful runners of her generation, achieving seven wins, 10 podium finishes, multiple course records, and holding the FKT for the famous Bob Graham Round.
Elsey is supported by The North Face, AG1, Coros, Shokz, Silva, Styrkr and Sums.
