Could You Walk One Million Steps? Cornwall Support Groups Smash Challenge for Diabetes UK
Staff and patients from GP surgeries in Cornwall have successfully completed a major fundraising challenge for Diabetes UK.
Walking for a Cause
Staff at Fowey River Practice, along with diabetes support groups in Par and Bodmin, took part in the One Million Steps Challenge, which ran from 1st July to 30th September. The event encourages people to “step for diabetes”, promoting fitness while supporting research into the condition.
Familiar Faces Return
Caroline Dibbens, Diabetes Care Co-ordinator across the Three Harbours and Bosvena Primary Care Network, and Claire Bolton have both taken on the challenge for the second year running. Together with the support groups, they helped raise over £500 for Diabetes UK.
A Thank You from Diabetes UK
Phaedra Perry, Head of South West and South Central at Diabetes UK, said:
“A huge thank you to Caroline, Claire, and everyone in the diabetes support groups who took part in the One Million Steps Challenge. Your stepping and fundraising efforts will help bring us closer to a world where diabetes can do no harm.”
Join the Next Challenge
The One Million Step Challenge takes place every year over three months, with participants choosing to walk 500,000, one million or 1.7 million steps.
Those interested in taking part next year can register their interest for 2026 on the Diabetes UK website
