Imerys Volunteers Contribute Over 340 Hours to Cornwall Charities

Imerys employees across the UK have already contributed more than 340 hours of community volunteering this year, supporting nine charities and community organisations through a newly launched annual volunteering programme.

The programme gives every Imerys staff member in the UK up to 16 hours of paid volunteering time each year. In its first year, 68 volunteers took part, working with a wide range of organisations including museums, animal shelters and environmental groups such as beach clean teams.

Support for RSPCA Cornwall

RSPCA Cornwall was one of the most popular organisations supported by Imerys volunteers. Colleagues helped with practical tasks including transporting mulch, clearing pathways and preparing a dedicated area for new resident ducks.

Wendy Elliott, volunteer coordinator at RSPCA Cornwall, said:
“The support from Imerys volunteers has been invaluable. Their hard work helps us maintain safe spaces for the animals in our care, and it’s wonderful to see local businesses taking such an active role in supporting our charity. We’re incredibly grateful for everything the team has done this year.”

Helping Protect Wheal Martyn

Volunteers also partnered with Wheal Martyn Clay Works, where they helped preserve and enhance the historic site. Work included clearing invasive rhododendrons from outdoor areas.

Andrew Trudgian, site team lead at Wheal Martyn, said:
“Tasks like invasive plant removal are essential for protecting the unique landscape at Wheal Martyn. The enthusiasm and teamwork shown by the Imerys group was outstanding.”

Looking Ahead to 2026

This year’s volunteering programme was coordinated by the Imerys volunteering team, including Hannah Cutlan and Dan Cocker.

Hannah Cutlan said:
“It has been fantastic to see so many colleagues getting involved this year. Volunteering not only strengthens our links with the community but also creates a real sense of pride across our teams. We’re thrilled with what has been achieved and hugely thankful to all who welcomed us.”

Imerys now plans to build on the success of the programme by expanding its volunteer partnerships and supporting even more organisations in 2026. Charities and community groups interested in taking part can contact Dan Cocker for more information.
