Kilkhampton Drivers Enter Round Britain Reliability Run to Support Parkinson’s UK

Two self-confessed petrol heads from Kilkhampton, near Bude, are preparing to put both themselves and their classic car to the ultimate test.

Colin and Brian, a couple of OAP petrol heads from Kilkhampton, Bude, Cornwall, purchased a 1974 Triumph 2500 automatic saloon car affectionally named Trevor with the sole purpose of rallying and taking part in events organised by Club Triumph.

Every two years, Club Triumph holds a Round Britain Reliability Run, a non-stop 2,000-mile endurance test for both cars and drivers. The challenge takes place over two days with scheduled check-in stops to avoid cheating, and usually sees around a hundred Triumph cars of various models and ages take part.

Fundraising for Parkinson’s UK

The drivers cover all their own costs, but each team also collects charity donations. This year, the chosen cause is Parkinson’s UK.

In their release, Colin and Brian said:
“We are sure everybody is aware of what a terrible disease this is. Your kind donation will encourage us to persevere and reach the finish line, and it will, more importantly, make a generous contribution to a well-deserving Charity.”

When and Where

The 2025 Round Britain Reliability Run starts on Friday 3rd October from Knebworth, heading up to John O’Groats, down to Land’s End, and back to Knebworth.

One of the check-ins is at The Castle, Bude, on Sunday 5th October after the teams have visited Land’s End. Colin and Brian encouraged people to welcome them there, adding:
“Please welcome us there & we can then see if we can squeeze another donation from you.”
