Newell’s Travel Launches Race Across the County to Support Penhaligon’s Friends

All 11 branches of Newell’s Travel hit the road in “Race Across the County”

Yesterday, Sunday 7th September, all 11 branches of Newell’s Travel closed their doors and taken to the road for the first-ever Race Across the County, raising funds for Penhaligon’s Friends.

Inspired by the TV show Race Across the World, the challenge will see Newell’s holiday experts swap their desks for an adrenaline-fuelled adventure across Cornwall.

Clues, checkpoints and a fuel budget

Each team set off from their local branch this morning armed with a limited fuel budget, a sealed envelope of cryptic clues and a route packed with mystery checkpoints and fun challenges. From rugged coastlines to winding backroads, the race promises twists, detours and plenty of drama before the finish line is reached.

“This is more than just a race,” said Bryony Penberthy, Regional Sales Manager at Newell’s Travel. “It’s about coming together as a community to support Penhaligon’s Friends and the incredible work they do for bereaved children and families right here in Cornwall.”

How to support the race

Supporters can still back their favourite branch online. Every donation goes towards Penhaligon’s Friends, with those who support the winning team entered into a prize draw to win two seats on one of Newell’s coach holidays later this year.

Throughout the day, the public can follow the action live on Newell’s Travel’s Facebook page as teams post updates, reveal clues and share progress. Followers will even have the chance to help solve challenges in real time, making it an interactive event for the whole community.
