Rick Stein, Beach Guardian and St Petrocs Launch Community Piccalilli to Support Homelessness Charity
A community-grown piccalilli lands on shelves in Padstow this weekend
Rick Stein’s, Beach Guardian, and Cornish homelessness charity St Petrocs have come together to launch Project Pickle, a community-driven piccalilli with a powerful purpose. The special Cornish piccalilli will be available from this weekend at Rick Stein’s Deli in Padstow, with all proceeds going directly to help people experiencing homelessness.
From seed to shelf
The idea behind Project Pickle is as wholesome as its ingredients. The journey began with the planting of cauliflower seeds at Trevisker Community Meadow in Padstow, followed by a collaborative process involving St Petrocs clients, volunteers and the wider community. Every step, from growing the produce to tasting recipes in Rick Stein’s kitchens and designing the packaging, was shaped by shared effort and care.
Lois Wild, Director of Engagement at St Petrocs, said:
“We are so delighted to be working with two amazing organisations in Cornwall to collaborate on this project to support our work to end homelessness. Project Pickle brings together care, creativity, and community, and we can’t wait to see the impact it has – both for those directly involved and through the funds it raises.”
Piccalilli with a purpose
The final product is more than a jar of Piccalilli. It’s a symbol of community, confidence, and compassion. Everyone involved, including those supported by St Petrocs, played a role in bringing it to life.
All profits from the sale will go to support St Petrocs’ work with people facing homelessness in Cornwall. To find out more, visit www.stpetrocs.org.uk.
