In a heartwarming display of community spirit and generosity, Dave Watson and Clive Ingram, members of the Rotary Club of St Ives, Cornwall, visited St Julia’s Hospice last week to make a significant donation. The hospice, known for providing compassionate care, was presented with a cheque for £406.29, a testament to the local community’s commitment to supporting vital services.

The donation was the result of a successful bucket collection organised by the Rotary Club at Tesco in Carbis Bay. Demonstrating the power of community action, the event raised a total of £812.58. This amount was thoughtfully divided equally between two key local causes: Cornwall Hospice Care and the St Ives Food Bank, each receiving an equal share to support their important work within the community.

This gesture of goodwill did not go unnoticed. Cornwall Hospice Care extended a heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in the effort. Special appreciation was given to the members of the St Ives Rotary Club for their initiative and to Tesco Carbis Bay for hosting the collection. Additionally, the hospice acknowledged the generosity of all the donors who contributed to the cause, highlighting the collective effort that made this donation possible.

The donation to Cornwall Hospice Care and the St Ives Food Bank underscores the importance of community support and the impact it can have on local services and those they assist. Through actions such as these, the Rotary Club of St Ives and the residents of Cornwall demonstrate a profound sense of solidarity and compassion, reinforcing the bonds that strengthen their community.
