Running the Cornish Monopoly Board – A 26.2-Mile Challenge for Charity
A group of runners from Camelford Up and Running is set to take on an extraordinary challenge this St Piran’s Day, Saturday 8th March. Their goal? To visit every square on the Cornish Monopoly Board while running a marathon distance of 26.2 miles – all in under 24 hours.
A Race Across Cornwall
The ambitious route will cover approximately 260 miles by minibus, with the team running at most destinations. Their journey kicks off in Camelford before winding through iconic Cornish locations, including Tintagel Castle, St Michael’s Mount, the Eden Project, and Land’s End.
Along the way, they’ll be stopping at well-known sites like the National Maritime Museum in Falmouth, Healey’s Cyder Farm, and the Minack Theatre. Even Monopoly-inspired spots such as Cornwall Council’s headquarters for “Super Tax” and Bodmin Jail for “Go to Jail” are part of the adventure.
Raising Funds for CYPEDS
This marathon challenge is more than just a test of endurance – it’s a fundraiser for CYPEDS (Children and Young People’s Eating Disorder Service). This specialist service provides community-based support for those aged 8 to 18 with suspected or diagnosed eating disorders, covering Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
A large group from Camelford Up and Running team are dedicating their efforts to CYPEDS after receiving life-changing support. Matt Allan said, “Our daughter Hollie was diagnosed with Anorexia in August ’24. The help and support we have received from CYPEDS has been second to none,” they shared in their fundraising appeal. “We as a family would like to show our appreciation and hope whatever money we raise will help another family going through similar times to us.”
The funds raised will be directed to the CYPEDS Charitable Fund through the Cornwall Partnership Foundation Trust.
