A familiar name in Cornish cricket has found a new home in one of Cornwall’s most recognisable locations. The Cornish Cricket Company, run by Sean Hooper, has relocated to the recently vacated Shipwreck Heritage Museum site in Charlestown after leaving its long-standing St Austell town centre shop late last year.

A Scenic New Location

After a long search, Sean has secured a space at Former Shipwreck Museum, Quay Road, Charlestown, St Austell, Cornwall, PL25 3NJ – a move he describes as landing in his “happy place.” The relocation is set to last through the summer, though its future beyond that remains uncertain.

Despite the temporary nature of the arrangement, the move bucks the trend of hospitality-focused businesses in the area, instead bringing a dedicated cricket and sports store to the heart of Charlestown. With its historic harbour backdrop, the new setting could be one of the most scenic locations for a sports shop anywhere in the country.

Continuing to Serve the Community

Sean remains committed to supporting the Cornish cricket, sport, and business community and sees the move as a stroke of good fortune. The shop’s presence in Charlestown ensures that local cricketers and sports enthusiasts can continue to access specialist equipment and advice from one of Cornwall’s best-known figures in the sport.

Sean also shared that he’s been reading Be More Pirate, a fitting choice given Charlestown’s maritime heritage and his new shop’s location.

For now, The Cornish Cricket Company has “come ashore” in Charlestown, with customers encouraged to visit while the opportunity lasts.
