Understanding Progress 8

Progress 8 is a key performance metric used by the UK government to measure the effectiveness of schools. It tracks the progress of pupils from the end of primary school (key stage 2) to the end of secondary school (key stage 4). A score above 0 indicates that pupils have made more progress than the national average, while a score below 0 suggests less progress than average.

Methodology

The rankings were derived using data from GOV.UK, examining all secondary schools in Cornwall to determine their progress 8 scores. Special education schools were not included in this report.

This report provides a picture of which schools in Cornwall are leading the way in pupil progression and which ones have room for improvement. For parents and educators, these findings offer valuable insights into the performance of local schools.
