Half Term Activities Announced at Better Leisure Centres Across Cornwall

Families across Cornwall are being encouraged to get active and have fun this October half term, with a packed line-up of activities running at Better leisure centres across the county.

Activities for Every Age

Silent discos, trampolining, soft play, inflatable aquaruns, tennis, badminton, junior pickleball, junior gym sessions and five-day intensive swimming lessons are just some of the options available during the school break.

Children can also enjoy swimming for just £1 between 9 and 10am at each of the nine Better leisure centres. The centres include Bude, Saltash, Liskeard, St Austell, Bodmin, Newquay, Truro, Helston and St Ives.

Newquay’s Trampoline Park is offering families the chance to tackle its three-lane obstacle course and bounce-led reaction pods, providing plenty of ways to keep everyone active and entertained.

Special Events in St Ives and Newquay

St Ives Leisure Centre is hosting a silent disco on Wednesday 29th October, featuring glitter tattoos and games for £7.50. Meanwhile, Newquay will hold a Halloween Soft Play Disco on Friday 24th October at a cost of £10 per child and accompanying adult.

Holiday Club in St Austell

An Ofsted-registered holiday club for children in school years 1 to 7 will run in St Austell. The day runs from 8.30am to 4.30pm and costs £32 for non-members. Activities include swimming, kwik cricket, dodgeball, soft tennis, badminton and football, all supervised by staff throughout the day.

Keeping Kids Active

Operating under the Better brand, GLL is the not-for-profit social enterprise running Cornwall’s leisure centres on behalf of Cornwall Council.

“We’re looking forward to lots of half term fun with a packed schedule specific to each of our locations,” said Ben Wilkinson, GLL Partnership Manager in Cornwall.

“Ensuring youngsters are well entertained during a school holiday period can be challenging for parents but there’s a lot going on at our centres. We expect to be busy, so advance booking is highly recommended.”
