Frank Eva Wins Oddfellows Jam Jar Competition
The Oddfellows’ latest friendly competition has proved that with a little imagination, even an empty jam jar can become something extraordinary.
Transforming the Humble Jam Jar
Members of the Plymouth and Truro District Oddfellows recently put their crafting skills to the test, reimagining used jam jars into ornamental, practical, or purely decorative creations. From plant pots and candle holders to pencil stands and artistic displays, the variety was impressive.
The entries were judged by District Secretary and Provincial Grand Master, Tina English, herself a keen crafter. With so many inventive designs, deciding the winners was no small task.
Cornish Winner Sails to the Top
Taking first place was Frank Eva from Falmouth, a lifelong Oddfellows member and senior Past Provincial Grand Master. Frank’s intricate ship in a jam jar, complete with a handcrafted wooden stand, captured the judge’s attention. His prize was a Tesco shopping voucher.
Close behind were Joan from Helston and Mandy from Redruth, both awarded runner-up shopping vouchers for their inventive entries.
Tina said:
“Thank you to all the members who took part in this fun activity. The standard was incredibly high, and the imagination on display made judging very tough. It’s clear that a lot of time, thought, and love went into each entry.”
Another competition is already on the horizon, with more shopping vouchers up for grabs.
