Free Pasties and Plenty of Laughs: Inside Redruth’s Oddfellows Summer Social

Redruth’s Oddfellows Hall was packed out for this year’s Oddfellows Summer Social, where members and guests enjoyed a night of Cornish flavours, entertainment and friendship.

A Taste of Cornwall

The evening celebrated Cornwall’s much-loved traditions, with tables piled high with pasties, saffron buns, hevva cake and scones topped with jam and cream the Cornish way. Homemade treats were shared throughout the night, creating a real flavour of Cornwall.

Fun, Games and Prizes

Entertainment came in the form of a Cornish-themed quiz and a guessing game, with shopping vouchers and gifts handed to the winners. A runner-up from the recent jam jar competition also received a voucher prize on the evening.

Free books and puzzles were given away too, adding to the community spirit of the event.

One member summed up the atmosphere perfectly, saying:

“What a wonderful time at Oddfellows Summer Social this year with a Cornish theme. A packed room was treated to pasties, hevva cake and cream teas. A fun Cornish quiz was held, shopping vouchers awarded and a lot of laughs were exchanged. And all this free to our members and their guests. What a night!”
