Oddfellows’ Festive Gathering: Mentalism, Music, and a Buffet Spread Delight Members

Published On: 27 December 2024Last Updated: 27 December 2024By

The Plymouth and Truro Oddfellows Friendly Society hosted a pre-Christmas social evening filled with festive cheer at the Oddfellows Hall on Green Lane, Redruth. Members enjoyed a marvellous night of friendship and entertainment, featuring a stunning display of mentalism described as rivalling the talents of Derren Brown. The event also included a prize quiz, a raffle, and a buffet with a range of cakes, hot pasties, and seasonal treats.

Raising Funds for Local Causes

The prize raffle raised funds for a local charity, continuing the society’s longstanding tradition of giving back. Throughout 2024, members of the Plymouth and Truro Oddfellows have supported a wide variety of local causes while also providing assistance to fellow members in need. Their activities culminated in special entertainment provided to long-term and elderly patients in a Cornish hospital, bringing joy to the community during the festive season.

Friendship, Love, and Truth in Action

Guided by their motto, ‘Friendship, Love and Truth,’ the Oddfellows have demonstrated their commitment to improving lives through community activities and charitable support. The society is part of one of the UK’s oldest and largest friendly organisations, welcoming new members of all ages and genders.

More Than Just Social Events

Oddfellows members benefit from more than just social gatherings. They can access care and welfare support, a travel club, and volunteering opportunities. Fundraising efforts are a key focus, offering members the chance to give back while building meaningful connections.
