Oddfellows Truro Friendship Group Announces New Venue for Monthly Meetings

Published On: 20 August 2025Last Updated: 20 August 2025By

The Oddfellows Truro Friendship Group has been celebrating laughter, games, and Cornish pride at its latest monthly meeting – and now members are preparing to move into a brand-new home.

A Day of Puzzles, Prizes and Cornish Fun

The afternoon was filled with challenges and camaraderie. Members tested their skills in a lively observation and memory game before diving into a Cornish-themed quiz that sparked both smiles and head-scratching moments. Winners were rewarded with packs of buttery shortbread.

A 'prize-for-all' raffle meant no one went home empty-handed, with funds raised set aside for a local cause chosen by members. Between rounds, everyone enjoyed chocolate biscuits, sweets, fresh fruit and hot drinks.

There was also a creative highlight as the 'Decorate a Jam Jar' competition winner was revealed. Longstanding member Frank Eva took the top spot, earning a shopping voucher and a round of applause for his winning design.

A New Chapter at Kea Community Centre

The meeting also marked an important announcement: from Wednesday 3rd September 2025, the group will begin meeting at their new venue, Kea Community Centre, Old Coach Road, Playing Place, Truro, TR3 6ET.

From then on, gatherings will take place on the first Wednesday of each month at 2pm. The new ground-floor Stockley Room offers more space, better facilities, ample parking and easy access by local bus routes.

The very first event in the new setting will be a lively beetle drive – a chance to reconnect with friends and welcome new faces.

More Than Just Meetings

The Plymouth and Truro District Oddfellows is part of one of the UK's oldest and friendliest societies. The group is dedicated to enriching lives through friendship, support and community spirit, offering members:

  • Welfare and care support

  • A dedicated travel club

  • Volunteering and fundraising opportunities

  • Regular social events in Redruth, Truro, Plymouth and surrounding areas

The Oddfellows say:

"So why not pop along, bring a friend, and discover the fun, friendship, and benefits of being an Oddfellow?"
