Lost Cornish Wells Revealed: Ten-Year Search Uncovered Hidden Holy Sites
A fascinating talk on Holy Wells in Cornwall is set to take place at Geevor Tin Mine Museum on Friday, 11th April at 6:30pm, offering a glimpse into Cornwall’s lesser-known sacred sites.
A Decade-Long Journey to Document Cornwall’s Wells
Speaker Guy English and his wife dedicated ten years to finding and documenting all the Holy Wells in Cornwall. Their journey took them through villages, woodlands, and remote moorlands, often following trails that led to little more than a hidden spring. Some wells were tucked away in town corners, while others required a long, solitary walk to discover.
Their extensive research unearthed centuries-old stories of miraculous healings, prophetic powers, and curses said to guard the wells. What started as a personal interest evolved into a book—an unexpected outcome of their decade of exploration.
How to Attend
The talk will take place at Geevor Tin Mine Museum in Pendeen and costs £5 cash on the night. Attendees can reserve their space online via bookwhen.com/geevor84 or by calling 01736 788662.
Tea and coffee are included in the ticket price, and for those who fancy a traditional Cornish pasty during the interval, pre-orders can be made from www.counthousecafe.com
This event promises to reveal Cornwall’s hidden history while providing inspiration for those looking to seek out these forgotten wells for themselves.
