Don’t Lose Your Vote in Cornwall! Find Out Where to Go Before 1st May
Your Polling Station May Not Be Where You Think
With local elections for Cornwall Council and town and parish councils just around the corner, voters are being urged to double check where they need to cast their vote on Thursday 1st May.
Cornwall Council is reminding everyone who plans to vote in person to confirm their designated polling station using the council’s online polling station finder.
You can only vote at the specific polling station you’ve been assigned to, so it’s important to check before the day.
What If I’ve Lost My Poll Card?
There’s no need to panic if your poll card has gone missing – it’s not required to vote. However, the card does tell you where your polling station is located, so if you still have it, it’s worth keeping to hand.
Bring the Right Photo ID
This year, photo ID will be required to vote. Polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm on 1st May, and you must bring a valid form of photo identification with you.
Accepted forms of ID include:
-
Passport
-
Driving licence
-
Government issued older or disabled person’s bus pass
-
Blue Badge
-
Defence Identity Card
-
Proof of Age Standards Scheme (PASS) card
The full list of accepted photo ID is available on the Electoral Commission’s website.
You can still use an out-of-date ID as long as it still looks like you. Just make sure the name on the ID matches the name you used to register to vote.
Need Help on the Day?
If you require help to cast your vote, you can bring someone with you or ask the presiding officer at the polling station. All polling stations will also have large print versions of the ballot paper and a tactile voting device for blind and partially sighted voters.
For additional support, contact Cornwall Council’s elections team on 01872 324 196 or email polling station finder.
