Cornwall Air Ambulance Launches 2024 Alternative Triathlon: Swim, SUP, Run for a Cause

Published On: 22 January 2024Last Updated: 14 February 2024By

Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust has announced the return of its unique fundraising event, the Alternative Triathlon, scheduled for Sunday, April 28, 2024, at Siblyback Lake. This event, generously sponsored by Ann’s Cottage Surf Shops, invites participants to engage in a distinctive blend of physical challenges while supporting a vital cause.

The Alternative Triathlon deviates from the traditional format, offering an exciting combination of swimming, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), and running. This blend of activities not only provides a fresh twist on the conventional triathlon but also opens the event to a wider range of participants, appealing to enthusiasts of water sports and running alike.

Participants have the option to enter the challenge either as individuals or in teams of three, accommodating different levels of expertise and experience. This flexibility encourages broader participation from the community, fostering a spirit of inclusivity and teamwork.

The primary goal of the event is to raise funds for Cornwall Air Ambulance, a critical service that saves lives across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. The funds raised will directly contribute to the operational costs of the air ambulance, ensuring that the service remains ready and equipped to respond to emergencies.

Cornwall Air Ambulance has been a lifeline for the region, providing rapid response to medical emergencies where time and accessibility are crucial. By participating in the Alternative Triathlon, individuals and teams not only challenge themselves but also play a vital role in supporting this essential service.

Registrations for the event are now open, and participants are encouraged to book their places early. The organisers have also set up a dedicated webpage for easy registration and to provide additional information about the event – view the page here.

Community engagement and support are key to the success of this event. The Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust invites residents and visitors alike to join in, whether by participating, cheering on the competitors, or contributing to the fundraising efforts. Every contribution, big or small, has a significant impact on the life-saving work of the Cornwall Air Ambulance.
