Cornwall Airport Newquay has shared its final set of “silly season” stats as summer draws to a close, highlighting strong passenger numbers in August and plenty of activity both on the ground and in the skies.

August Highlights

The airport reported high passenger figures throughout August, with the mood boosted by five days spent at Fistral Beach for Boardmasters. The #TeamNQY crew used the festival to showcase how easy it is to “#FlyToTheSurf,” underlining Cornwall Airport’s role as a gateway for both visitors and residents.

Destination of the Month

The standout route was Alicante, which the airport described as “the perfect blend of city break and beach escape.” With Ryanair operating flights to Alicante and Málaga all year round, travellers can continue to “chase the sunshine” even as Cornwall moves into quieter months.

The airport noted the popularity of these flights, adding, “With load factors that good, it’d be rude not to shout about it. Come on Ryanair give us some more routes 😉.”
