A student from Cornwall has claimed the top UK prize in an international photography competition, highlighting the region’s rich history through a striking image of East Pool Mine.
Jamie Hurst Triumphs in National Photography Contest
Jamie Hurst, who recently completed a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Travel and Tourism at Cornwall College Camborne, captured a stunning photograph of the National Trust site at East Pool Mine, earning her recognition as the UK winner in the Global Travel and Tourism Partnership (GTTP) competition. Her work has now been featured on the GTTP website.
Jamie, who returned to education in her mid-30s, excelled during her time at Cornwall College and is now pursuing a degree in International Tourism Management at Cardiff Metropolitan University.

Jamie Reflects on Her Journey
Speaking about her experience, Jamie expressed gratitude for the support she received at Cornwall College. “I’m grateful for the support and guidance I received at Cornwall College. They helped me build my confidence and discover my passion for photography,” she said.
Her future aspirations include continuing her education with a Master’s Degree and starting her own business, specialising in a tourism agency focused on historical interests.
