New HGVs Drive Enhanced Training Opportunities in Cornwall at Cornwall College Camborne
State-of-the-art vehicles set to transform HGV training in Cornwall
Cornwall College Camborne, a member of The Cornwall College Group (TCCG), has taken a significant step forward in enhancing its heavy goods vehicle (HGV) training programmes with the addition of two brand-new vehicles. This investment aims to provide students and apprentices with practical, hands-on experience, equipping them with the skills needed to thrive in the industry.
Boosting Skills with Advanced Resources
The introduction of these HGVs represents a major upgrade in the college’s training facilities. Neil Atkinson, curriculum area manager for engineering and motor vehicles, expressed his enthusiasm for the new additions, stating that they will enable the college to offer more comprehensive and up-to-date training. This development is expected to benefit both full-time students and apprentices, ensuring they gain industry-relevant experience in a rapidly evolving sector.
Cornwall College Camborne is renowned for being the top further education college for education and training in Cornwall. Its commitment to maintaining high standards is reflected in its accreditation by The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) and the Society of Operations Engineers, which further cements the college’s reputation as a leader in technical and vocational education.
Preparing for the Future of the HGV Sector
Luke Bazeley, head of campus at Cornwall College Camborne, highlighted the significance of these new vehicles for the future of HGV training. He explained that the state-of-the-art vehicles will serve as a “game changer” for the sector, providing aspiring engineers and mechanics the opportunity to train locally with industry-standard equipment.
Luke emphasised the importance of having quality resources available to learners, which is essential for providing a robust educational experience. The college’s strong connections with industry leaders help ensure that students are equipped with the skills needed not just for today, but for the future of the HGV sector.
Department for Education Backs Investment
The funding for these vehicles was provided by the Department for Education (DfE), highlighting the importance of government support in strengthening vocational training. This investment aligns with the college’s ongoing efforts to develop a highly skilled workforce, capable of meeting the demands of the modern transportation and logistics industry.
With the new HGVs in place, Cornwall College Camborne is set to continue its tradition of producing well-trained graduates ready to excel in their careers. The college invites those interested in pursuing a career in the HGV sector, or other related fields, to explore the wide range of apprenticeships and courses available.
