Scrap Cars Given New Life at Cornwall College: Future Mechanics Train with Seized Vehicles
In an innovative educational step, Motor Vehicle students at Cornwall College’s St Austell campus have gained access to a selection of decommissioned vehicles, provided through a collaboration with Road Casualty Reduction Officers and Devon & Cornwall Police. These cars, which were taken off the roads and marked for scrapping, now serve as hands-on learning tools, allowing students to sharpen their mechanical skills and prepare for careers in the motor industry.
Learning with Real-World Tools
As these unclaimed vehicles make their way into the college’s programme, students are granted a unique opportunity to work on actual cars rather than simulated or theoretical models. The inclusion of these vehicles aims to support their development by exposing them to practical, everyday scenarios they are likely to encounter as professional mechanics.
Thanks to Community Support
Cornwall College extended its gratitude to Road Casualty Reduction Officers and Devon & Cornwall Police for their vital role in this project.
