33 Cornwall Town Centre Projects Awarded Funding from Good Growth Programme
Thirty-three town centre and high street projects across Cornwall are set to benefit from new investment through the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Good Growth programme.
Grants ranging from £2,500 to £250,000 have been awarded from Cornwall Council’s Town Regeneration and Investment Programme (TRIP), supporting a range of projects designed to help towns and their businesses thrive.
The £2.7 million TRIP fund is part of the wider Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Good Growth programme, which is financed by the government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
‘Small Changes That Have a Big Impact’
Cllr Tim Dwelly, Cornwall Council’s Cabinet Member for Economic Regeneration and Investment, said:
“This is about giving towns the tools they need to make small changes that have a big impact, and planning for what comes next. It’s great to see communities using Good Growth investment to shape improvements on their own doorsteps to make their town centres busier and more welcoming. Many of these projects are also laying the ground for future improvements so they can unlock further investment.”
Market Revival in Saltash
Saltash Town Council has received £3,702 to extend the Saltash Market Trail with four additional monthly markets from September to December 2025.
The aim is to test the long-term viability of regular markets as self-sustaining events, supporting local traders and adding vibrancy to the high street.
Cllr Rachel Bullock, Mayor of Saltash Town Council, said:
“We’re delighted to be able to continue with the Saltash Street Markets which are taking place on the third Saturday of the month until December, thanks to funding from Cornwall Council’s Town Regeneration and Investment Programme. The markets have been a positive addition to the Saltash community, offering local traders a space to showcase their products and helping drive footfall to the high street, and we hope they can continue long-term.”
St Austell Focuses on Community Pride
St Austell Town Council has been awarded £41,512 for a series of small, community-led improvements across key town centre spots.
The project aims to strengthen the town’s identity through better wayfinding, greening, tidier focal points and enhanced public spaces. A feasibility study will also explore how Holy Trinity Church could play a bigger role in St Austell’s cultural and community life.
These upgrades are intended to boost local business, encourage footfall and support longer-term regeneration.
Redruth Plans for the Future
Redruth Town Centre has secured £96,240 to deliver improvements supporting local businesses and future development.
Work includes installing free town centre Wi-Fi, upgrading lighting, and enhancing Market Way. New projection, audio and CCTV systems will also be added to support events, improve safety, and make the town more appealing for residents and visitors alike.
Looe Revives Its Heritage Trail
In Looe, £7,875 will go towards refreshing the town’s heritage trail. The project includes the creation of a new map, printed materials and five new signs to help visitors explore the area and stay longer, benefiting local businesses.
Investing in Cornwall’s Future
All projects are expected to be completed by early 2026.
The Good Growth programme is managed by Cornwall Council and has been allocated a total of £186 million from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund over four years, running until March 2026. The programme focuses on driving local economic growth, creating jobs and strengthening communities.
