Cornwall Council Elections 2025: Independents and Reform UK Make Huge Gains

The 2025 Cornwall Council elections have delivered a fascinating shake-up, with independents and Reform UK seeing candidates elected across the county. The votes, counted and confirmed this week, show a shift in voter preferences across many electoral divisions.

Liberal Democrats Hold Ground in Many Areas

The Liberal Democrats retained several divisions, continuing their strong presence across Cornwall. Adrian Alan Parsons was elected in Altarnun & Stoke Climsland, Daniel John Rogerson in Bodmin St Mary’s & St Leonard, and Leigh Lansbury Frost in Bodmin St Petroc’s.

Further wins came from Mark Peter Burnett in Camelford & Boscastle, Nicola Boase in Helston South & Meneage, and John Martin in Long Rock, Marazion & St Erth among others.

Independent Candidates Elected Across Cornwall

Independent candidates were successful in several divisions. Peter John La Broy took Bude, Paul White won Camborne Trelowarren, and Brian Clemens was elected in Land’s End.

Elsewhere, Tim Dwelly won Penzance East, Jim McKenna took Penzance Promenade, and Andrew Paul Mitchell secured St Ives West & Towednack.

Reform UK Candidates Elected in Many Divisions

Reform UK candidates were elected across many divisions. Angus Black took Calstock, Karen Knight won Camborne West & Treswithian, and Rob Heslington secured Gwinear-Gwithian & Hayle East.

Other wins included Richard Barker in St Newlyn East, Cubert & Goonhavern, and Roger Tarrant in Redruth North.

Labour Wins Seats in Falmouth

Labour won three seats in Falmouth. Laurie Magowan was elected in Falmouth Arwenack, Debra Clegg in Falmouth Boslowick, and Alan Rowe in Falmouth Penwerris.

Green Party Candidates Secure Seats

The Green Party also had candidates elected. Karen La Borde took Gloweth, Malabar & Shortlanesend, Andrew Douglas Creek won Newquay Trenance, and Dean Evans was elected in Penryn.

Mebyon Kernow Wins in Several Divisions

Mebyon Kernow continued its presence in Cornwall. Andrew Long won Callington & St Dominic, Loveday Jenkin was elected in Crowan, Sithney & Wendron, and Richard Michael Cole secured St Dennis & St Enoder.

Conservatives Retain Seats Across Cornwall

The Conservatives retained seats in a number of divisions. Martyn Alvey was elected in Feock & Kea, Jane Pascoe in Liskeard South & Dobwalls, and James Mustoe in Mevagissey & St Austell Bay.

Additional Conservative wins included Jordan Rowse in St Austell Bethel & Holmbush and Pauline Dawn Giles in St Blazey.
