Cornwall Council Launches Photo Competition to Celebrate Public Rights of Way
Cornwall Council is calling on photographers of all ages to help celebrate the county's stunning Public Rights of Way through a brand-new photo competition.
The competition highlights Cornwall's extensive network of over 4,500km of footpaths, bridleways and by-ways, and the winning entries will feature in the upcoming Cornwall Rights of Way Improvement Plan. The Plan, due to be finalised in 2026, will outline how the network will be preserved and improved over the next decade.
📸 "Calling all budding photographers! We're running a photo competition to celebrate Cornwall's fabulous Public Rights of Way. Cornwall has over 4,500km of footpaths, bridleways and by-ways – and we want to see your pictures of them. Submit your best snaps from strolls by the sea, walks in the woods and treks to the tors."
Full details and entry forms are available at letstalk.cornwall.gov.uk/rowip-photos.
Two Competitions: Adults and Children
Entries can be submitted between 21st August 2025 and 31st December 2025.
There are two categories:
-
Over 18 years old
-
Under 18 years old
A panel will shortlist 10 photos in each category, and then the public will be invited to vote for their favourites. The photo with the highest score in each age group will be crowned the winner.
Theme Categories
To be eligible, photos must be taken on a Public Right of Way in Cornwall and should fit one of the three theme categories:
-
Fabulous Places: Capturing iconic landscapes and seascapes that showcase Cornwall's beauty.
-
You, Me, Our Rights of Way: Highlighting people using a Right of Way and what it means to them.
-
The Path Less Travelled: Revealing hidden gems, unexpected views, or overlooked details along a Right of Way.
Accepted file types include JPG, JPEG, GIF, BMP and PNG, and entrants must state the location where their photo was taken.
Be Part of Cornwall's Future
The new Rights of Way Improvement Plan will be shaped not only by this competition but also through public feedback. Cornwall Council is encouraging residents and users of Rights of Way to share their thoughts via surveys and information available at the Rights of Way Improvement Plan page.
