Free Parking in Cornwall This December: Key Dates Announced
Cornwall Council has announced three free parking days this December, including on Small Business Saturday, giving residents and visitors a chance to save while supporting local businesses.
Free Parking Dates and Locations
All Cornwall Council pay and display and pay on exit car parks will be free to use on Saturday 7th December, Saturday 14th December, and Monday 23rd December. Additionally, Truro’s Park and Ride service will also be free on these dates, with buses running regularly to and from the Tregurra and Langarth bases.
Drivers using pay-on-exit car parks are reminded to take a ticket on entry as usual. When leaving, tickets can be inserted at the exit barrier. Parking will be free for the specified days, but any additional fees for extended stays must be paid before exiting.
Supporting Small Businesses
The Council is continuing its support for Small Business Saturday, now in its 11th year. This national campaign aims to highlight the success of small businesses and encourage consumers to shop locally.
Martin Worth, Cornwall Council’s cabinet portfolio holder for customers, said:
“Small Business Saturday is a reminder to us all about the importance of supporting the high street and local businesses.
“And if you’re not able to make it to your local high street this Small Business Saturday, this year we’re offering two additional free parking dates in the run up to Christmas.
“You might take up the offer of parking for free in one of our car parks, but if you want to leave the car at home, our bus network continues to offer great value with single journeys costing just £2.
“If you’re planning to visit Truro on December 7, 14 or 23, our Park and Ride will be free with buses running regularly. With more than 2,500 parking spaces split between the Tregurra and Langarth bases, you can be reassured of finding a space!”
Finding the Right Car Park
All Cornwall Council-operated car parks are clearly branded, with posters displayed at charging points to inform drivers of the free parking offer.
Plan your visit and take advantage of these free parking days to enjoy a festive outing while supporting Cornwall’s local economy. A list of Cornwall Council car parks can be found here.
