Visitors urged to help keep Cornwall safe, clean and enjoyable this Easter
Cornwall Council is reminding holidaymakers to respect, protect and enjoy Cornwall this Easter, with a series of important tips aimed at keeping people safe and looking after the local environment.
With Easter holidays well underway, visitors are being asked to be mindful of their impact on Cornwall’s beaches, roads, towns and natural spaces.
Take your litter home
If bins are full, the council asks that rubbish is taken home rather than left behind. Recycling is encouraged where possible. There’s a particular warning about disposable BBQs – these should only be placed in metal bins, not standard ones, due to the risk of fire. The council also warns that BBQs buried in the sand can cause painful injuries.
Respect nature and wildlife
Visitors are asked to stick to paths, avoid disturbing animals, and leave wild areas as they were found. Whether you’re walking the coast path or exploring Cornwall’s countryside, the message is simple: treat the environment with care.
Drive and explore considerately
Cornwall’s narrow rural roads, coastal paths and historic towns are popular with walkers, cyclists and drivers alike – but the council is asking everyone to be considerate and help keep things safe and peaceful for all.
Sea safety matters
Those heading into the water are reminded to always swim between the red and yellow flags. Entering the sea when the red flag is flying is strongly discouraged.
Be sun smart
Finally, with the sun making an appearance this Easter, people are urged to wear sunscreen, stay hydrated, and protect themselves with a hat and sunglasses.
