East Cornwall Search & Rescue Team has officially expanded its ranks with the addition of two new members, Ben and Alex, who have now joined the call-out list.

This milestone is a testament to their dedication and the rigorous training they have undergone to serve the community and visitors of Cornwall in times of need.

Commitment to Service

The latest recruits are set to embark on a challenging journey that promises early morning wake-up calls, braving adverse weather conditions, and witnessing scenarios uncommon to the average person. This, however, is all in the spirit of volunteering to aid those in distress within Cornwall, particularly in the rugged terrains of Bodmin Moor and its surroundings. The team leader, Zac, presented Ben and Alex with the team’s coveted red jackets, symbolising their readiness and commitment to the cause.

A Call to the Community

East Cornwall Search & Rescue Team operates as a local charity, offering invaluable inland search and rescue services for those lost, missing, or injured. It’s an entirely voluntary organisation that depends on public support to remain operational. The team’s efforts extend beyond the immediate area, providing assistance further afield as required.

The significance of the community’s support cannot be overstated. The charity urges the public to contribute through various means to ensure the continuity and efficiency of its operations. Interested individuals can support by shopping through easyfundraising.org.uk/eastcornwallsrt, which enables the team to receive donations from online purchases at no extra cost to the buyer. Additionally, direct donations and fundraising events can be organised via Givey.com/eastcornwallsrt, further bolstering the team’s resources.

Prepared for Emergencies

In times of emergency, the team reminds the public to dial 999 and request the Devon and Cornwall Police for Mountain Rescue, ensuring timely and professional assistance is dispatched to those in need.

The addition of Ben and Alex to the East Cornwall Search & Rescue Team not only strengthens the unit’s operational capabilities but also highlights the spirit of volunteerism that thrives within the community. Their readiness to face the challenges ahead is a beacon of hope and reassurance for the locals and visitors of Cornwall alike.
