Cornwall Wildlife Trust Supporter Takes on 25km Swim for Ocean Emergency Fund
Em is gearing up for a monumental 25km ocean swim around the Isles of Scilly, an impressive feat she plans to undertake without a wetsuit.
This ambitious endeavour is not just a test of endurance and resilience but also a significant fundraising effort. So far, Em has successfully raised over £2,500 for the Cornwall Wildlife Trust’s Ocean Emergency Fund.
A Personal Mission for Cornwall’s Seas
Em’s commitment to this challenge stems from her deep connection to Cornwall’s natural beauty. Inspired by her experiences swimming in the ocean and walking along the coast path, Em has been moved by the urgency to address biodiversity loss and ecological collapse. Her personal journey through grief over these environmental issues has driven her to support the Ocean Emergency Fund passionately.
“For me it is important to look for glimmers of hope and Cornwall Wildlife Trust’s Ocean Emergency Fund epitomises that hope for me,” Em shared. “It makes core marine projects possible so that we can look to the future with greater hope for Cornwall’s precious seas. And it feels very appropriate given that my fundraising challenge is a 25km ocean swim that I am fundraising for the ocean!”
