Bodmin Property Closed to Combat Anti-Social Behaviour

On Tuesday, 19th March 2024, a significant move was made in Bodmin to address anti-social behaviour that has been plaguing the community.

A premises closure order was successfully obtained at Truro Magistrates Court concerning a property located in Lanivet, Bodmin. This action marks a critical step in the ongoing efforts to maintain peace and order in the area.

The court’s decision to grant the closure order signifies that, effective immediately, entry to the specified property is restricted. Only representatives of the housing association that owns the property and emergency service personnel are exempt from this restriction. This measure will be in place for the next three months, providing a temporary respite to the community from the disturbances that have originated from this location.

This successful outcome is the result of diligent and coordinated efforts among local community members, Cornwall Council’s Anti-Social Behaviour Team, the legal team of Devon & Cornwall Police, and Cornwall Housing. The partnership and collaboration between these groups have been instrumental in gathering the necessary intelligence and taking legal steps to address the issue.

The Bodmin Police have expressed their gratitude for the community’s involvement and the effective teamwork that led to this positive result. They continue to encourage anyone experiencing similar issues of anti-social behaviour in their areas to come forward and seek assistance. The commitment to fostering a safe and peaceful environment remains a top priority for the involved organisations, demonstrating their dedication to the well-being of Cornwall’s residents.
