Police Appeal for Witnesses After Serious Incident on A391

A serious road traffic collision in St Austell has left a pedestrian with life-threatening injuries, prompting a police appeal for witnesses and dashcam footage.

The incident occurred at 4.20am on Saturday, 1st March near the Boscoppa Road over bridge on the A391. It involved a red Hyundai Getz and a 26-year-old male pedestrian, who was taken to Treliske Hospital for urgent treatment.

Driver Arrested but Released Under Investigation

Following the collision, a 24-year-old man from the Par area was arrested on suspicion of multiple offences, including:

  • Driving whilst disqualified
  • Drink driving
  • Driving whilst unfit through drugs
  • Failure to report an accident

He has since been released under investigation as enquiries continue.

Road Closures and Police Investigation

The road was closed while officers carried out an investigation at the scene. The Roads Policing Team has thanked the public for their patience during the disruption.

Police are urging any witnesses who have not yet spoken to officers – especially those with dashcam footage – to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to contact police via their website or by calling 101, quoting log 117 of 1st March.
