Fatal Collision Involving Cyclist Reported on Isles of Scilly

Incident in the Early Hours of 23rd November Raises Questions

A man in his 60s has tragically died following a collision involving a cyclist and a parked car on the Isles of Scilly. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, 23rd November.

Police Respond to Missing Person Report

Devon and Cornwall Police were called at 2.20am after concerns were raised for a man who had reportedly left the hospital on St Mary’s. Officers issued a missing person report as part of their response to the situation.

Collision Reported Hours Later

At approximately 4.30am, the ambulance service attended to a collision involving a cyclist and a parked car. The cyclist was identified as the same individual reported missing earlier.

The man was transported to hospital but was sadly confirmed deceased.

Police Statement

Superintendent Ben Asprey expressed his condolences, saying:
“Our thoughts remain with the family of the deceased man, who are being supported by specialist officers.”

Devon and Cornwall Police have confirmed that a mandatory referral will be made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
