Police Appeal for Witnesses Following Sexual Assault in Portreath

Detectives are urgently appealing for witnesses and information following a report of a rape on the coast path at North Cliffs near Bassett Cove.

The incident occurred at approximately 6pm on Wednesday, 19 June.

Incident Details

According to reports, a woman was sexually assaulted by an unknown man. After the assault, the suspect left the scene, walking in the direction of Godrevy. The police have released a description of the suspect in hopes of identifying him.

Suspect Description

The man is described as:

• White
• Approximately 6 feet tall
• Slim build
• Dark brown hair, approximately two inches long
• Wearing a dark-coloured short sleeve tee-shirt, dark jeans, and dark trainers

Police Statement

Detective Inspector Dan McKenzie, leading the investigation, stated, “The woman is currently being supported by specially trained officers. Our enquiries remain ongoing into this incident, and I would urge anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen anything which may assist our investigation to get in touch.”

Appeal for Information

Police are urging anyone who may have seen the suspect or has any information related to the incident to contact them. “Anyone who may have seen this man, or anyone who has any information about this incident to please contact the police on 101 quoting 50240152507,” added Detective Inspector McKenzie.
