Police Investigate Christmas Graffiti Incidents in East Cornwall

Police are investigating a spate of criminal damage after graffiti was sprayed across several locations in South East Cornwall over the Christmas period.

The incidents all took place on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day and are believed to have happened late at night or in the early hours of the morning.

Where the damage happened

Devon and Cornwall Police say they received 15 reports of graffiti on both publicly and privately owned buildings and structures.

The affected areas are:

  • Polbathic

  • Seaton

  • Downderry

  • Hessenford

  • Widegates

  • Crafthole

  • Looe

In each case, the same messages were painted on buildings, reading “AI will replace us all” and “AI will take our jobs”.

Images released as enquiries continue

Police have released images of a masked person they would like to speak to in connection with the incidents. Officers believe this person may be able to assist with their enquiries.

How to report information

Anyone with information that could help, particularly people with CCTV or doorbell footage showing suspicious people or vehicles at the time, is urged to get in touch.
