Police Officer to Appear in Court Over Coercive Control Charge

A Devon and Cornwall Police officer is due to appear at court this week accused of coercive and controlling behaviour involving one victim.

PC Alan Bates, aged 52 and based in Tavistock, is scheduled to appear at Bristol Crown Court on Wednesday 17th December.

Court appearance follows earlier hearing

Alan first appeared at Exeter Magistrates’ Court on 11th November to face the charge. Following that hearing, he was released on conditional bail ahead of the Crown Court appearance.

The allegation relates to coercive and controlling behaviour connected to one victim.
