Serious Collision Near Newquay Involves Pedestrian and Vehicle
In a distressing incident near Newquay, emergency services rushed to the scene of a serious collision on the A3059 at St Columb Major, reported at approximately 10:05 pm on March 16th.
The collision involved a pedestrian and a black Nissan Note car, sparking an immediate response from local authorities and medical teams.
Upon arrival, members of the Air Ambulance Response team, Southwest Ambulance, Devon and Cornwall Police Response units, and Roads Policing Team worked collaboratively at the scene. A 50-year-old male pedestrian, identified as a local resident, was discovered with suspected serious injuries. In a swift action to provide him with the necessary medical attention, he was transported to Treliske Hospital for treatment.
Remarkably, the driver of the Nissan Note car involved in the incident did not sustain any injuries. This aspect of the collision has likely been a small solace in the wake of the unfortunate event.
In the aftermath of the collision, Devon and Cornwall Police extended their gratitude towards the members of the public who stopped to assist at the scene. Their immediate response and willingness to help in a critical moment underscored the community’s solidarity in times of emergency.
The authorities have issued a call for witnesses who were present at the time but were not spoken to or those who might have captured the collision on their dashcams.
