Tragic A30 Collision Claims One Life: Driver Arrested Amid Investigation

In a heartrending incident late Thursday night, a severe traffic accident occurred on the A30 near Launceston, leading to the death of a 38-year-old man and serious injuries to others.

Devon & Cornwall Police have launched a full-scale investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash, which involved a Range Rover Evoque and a Honda Civic.

Urgent Call for Witnesses

The collision took place near the Plusha area, close to Bodmin Moor Services, at approximately 10:25 pm. Emergency services, including police, fire crews, ambulance services, and the Cornwall Air Ambulance, responded promptly to the distressing scene. Authorities are now urging anyone who witnessed the event or has relevant dash-cam footage to come forward to aid the investigation.

Casualties and Hospitalisations

The devastating impact of the crash claimed the life of a man travelling in the Honda Civic, who was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been informed of the tragic loss. Three other passengers from the Honda were rushed to Derriford Hospital for urgent medical attention, with one reported to be in a serious condition. Meanwhile, the two occupants of the Range Rover sustained minor injuries and were treated at Treliske Hospital.

Ongoing Police Actions

Following the accident, the driver of the Honda, a 45-year-old man, was arrested under suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He is currently being held in police custody. The Devon and Cornwall Roads Policing Team has been meticulously examining the crash site, and some traffic restrictions remain in place to facilitate their ongoing investigation.
