At around 3:00 PM on Tuesday, 13th February 2024, a serious road traffic collision occurred at the junction of Upland Crescent and Beechwood Road in Truro, Cornwall, involving a red KIA vehicle and an electrically assisted pedal cycle. Devon & Cornwall Police were promptly notified of the incident, leading to an immediate response by local officers and the South West Ambulance crew to the scene.

The collision involved an 18-year-old male riding the electric bike, who initially appeared to sustain minor injuries. However, after being assessed at Treliske Hospital, the severity of his injuries was reassessed, necessitating his transfer to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth for further medical treatment.

The 61-year-old driver of the KIA vehicle cooperated fully with the police, remaining at the scene to assist with their inquiries. Authorities have since informed the next of kin about the incident.

Devon & Cornwall Police’s Roads Policing Team is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision. They extend their gratitude to the public members who offered their assistance at the scene of the accident. The police are now appealing to any witnesses who have not yet come forward, especially those with dashcam or private CCTV footage of the incident, to contact them by calling 101 and quoting the occurrence number 50240035887. This effort aims to gather comprehensive evidence to understand the dynamics of the collision fully.
