Young Man Dies in Collision Near St Tudy: Family Pays Heartfelt Tribute
Fergus Lewis, 19, from Wadebridge, tragically lost his life in a collision involving two black Seat Ibiza vehicles on the B3266 between St Tudy and St Breward. The incident occurred at approximately 11:15 p.m. on Friday, 1st November.
Family’s Emotional Tribute
Fergus’s family has shared their grief, describing him as a vibrant and adventurous young man deeply loved by family and friends. In a heartfelt statement, they said, “Our hearts are breaking as we write this. We have lost Fergus, our beautiful boy taken far too soon.” His family described him as “kind, caring and great fun to be with, always looking for the next adventure.”
Fergus, who enjoyed the outdoors and found solace in the sea, had a passion for his car and spent countless hours working on it. His family highlighted his dedication to his loved ones, saying, “He loved his family and friends and would do anything to help anyone. He was the best brother Callum and Isobel could have ever had. He adored beautiful Ellie, his girlfriend who will always be a part of our family.”
In their tribute, Fergus’s family also expressed gratitude for the efforts of emergency services and the support shown by the community. They requested privacy to grieve their loss, adding, “We want to thank the emergency services for everything they did to try to save Fergus and for the support they are giving us now. We would also like to thank the community for the support and for the flowers and messages placed at the scene.”
Ongoing Investigation and Police Appeal
Following the collision, an 18-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing death by careless driving while unfit through drink or drugs. He has since been released on bail as the investigation continues.
The police are appealing to witnesses who may have seen the collision or captured it on dashcam footage to come forward. Anyone with information is urged to contact the police through the force website or by calling 101, quoting reference number 50240277870.
