Cyclists Rejoice: Hells Teeth Trail Reopens in Cardinham Woods

Published On: 18 May 2024Last Updated: 18 May 2024By

Cardinham Woods’ popular cycle trail, Hells Teeth, has officially reopened after an extended closure for significant trail reinstatement works.

The announcement, made two days ago by Forestry England’s Cardinham Woods team, marks the end of a hiatus caused by necessary harvesting operations in the area.

Hells Teeth Now Open

As of now, mountain bikers can once again enjoy the thrilling Hells Teeth trail. The Forestry England team expressed gratitude for the public’s patience during the closure, which was essential for carrying out extensive repairs and reinstating the trail to its former glory. Cyclists are urged to return and experience the revamped track, which promises to deliver an exhilarating ride through the scenic woodlands.

Bodmin Beast Partially Closed

While Hells Teeth is back in action, a short section of another popular trail, the Bodmin Beast, remains closed for resurfacing works. This section will stay closed until the surface has fully bound, ensuring a safe and smooth ride for cyclists once it reopens. The team hopes to have this part of the Bodmin Beast ready for use by the May half term, providing a perfect opportunity for families and cycling enthusiasts to explore the trail during the holiday.

Temporary Diversion in Place

During the closure of the Bodmin Beast section, cyclists are advised to follow a temporary diversion. The diversion route takes riders downhill onto the Lady Vale Trail and back to the car park, with clear diversion arrows marking the way. Cyclists are reminded to ride with care on the Lady Vale Trail, as it is the busiest and most accessible trail in Cardinham Woods.

Safety First on Lady Vale Trail

The Lady Vale Trail is frequented by a diverse range of visitors, including horse riders, dog walkers, families, runners, and individuals with mobility aids. Due to its high traffic, cyclists are encouraged to exercise caution and be mindful of other trail users to ensure everyone’s safety and enjoyment.

Visit Cardinham Woods

Forestry England’s Cardinham Woods team looks forward to welcoming cyclists back to the trails. With the reopening of Hells Teeth and the anticipated reopening of the Bodmin Beast section, Cardinham Woods continues to offer exciting and varied cycling experiences for enthusiasts of all levels.

Stay tuned for further updates and plan your visit to make the most of these fantastic trails in the heart of Cardinham Woods.
