Walk 30km This May and Make a Difference

Dog owners across Cornwall are being asked to take part in a virtual dog walking challenge this May in support of Penhaligon’s Friends, a Cornish charity offering specialist support to over 1,000 bereaved children and their families each year.

To mark the charity’s 30th anniversary, participants are encouraged to register and walk at least 30 kilometres throughout the month. The aim is to raise vital funds while enjoying the outdoors with their four-legged companions.

How to Take Part

Signing up is straightforward – a £10 donation creates a personal JustGiving page, where friends and family can support the challenge. Those who register will receive a “Pooch Pack” in the post, which includes a Penhaligon’s Friends dog bandana, dog and human treats, and helpful resources.

The challenge officially begins on Thursday, 1st May, and registrations are open now via justgiving.com/campaign/30kminmay

The event is sponsored by Penmellyn Veterinary Group, which runs six practices across Cornwall, from Bodmin and Padstow to Pool. Staff at the group have personal connections to the charity’s work.

Gina Togneri, Clinical Director at Penmellyn Veterinary Group, said:

“We were delighted to have the opportunity to support Penhaligon’s Friends with this event on many levels. This charity is incredible in terms of both their work with young people and the support they provide bereaved families.

“We have first-hand experience of their amazing work through the assistance provided to some of our staff and their families during difficult times. We are also very aware of the positive impact that our pets have in supporting us through such tough times. Our support of Penhaligon’s Friends and their dog walking challenge gives us a great opportunity to be involved with this fantastic cause.”

Jo Wollard, Business Manager at Penhaligon’s Friends, said:

“Join our 30km dog walking challenge this May and combine enjoying some fresh air and exercise with your dog and supporting bereaved children and their families in Cornwall.”

“We are so grateful for Penmellyn Veterinary Group’s support. They have also donated a doggy hamper as a prize for a draw for all participants who raise over £100 during the event.”
