Eden Project and Volvo Partner Until 2027: What’s Next for Cornwall’s Iconic Attraction?

The Eden Project and Volvo Car UK have announced an extension of their partnership, originally established in 2021, which will now run until 2027. The collaboration solidifies Volvo’s role as the Official Electric Car Partner of the Eden Project and the Presenting Partner of the Eden Sessions, the popular annual music series created in partnership with AEG.

Supporting Sustainability and Education

The partnership aims to inspire and educate visitors about the importance of creating a safer, more sustainable future. This vision is exemplified by a fleet of nine fully electric XC40 cars, which will remain the cornerstone of the Eden Project’s transport for staff and visitors. The vehicles are used daily by multiple teams, including event staff, site managers, and paramedics, as well as for travel between the Eden Project and its new locations in Morecambe and Dundee.

Volvo’s latest innovation, the EX30 – a pure electric car with the lowest carbon footprint of any Volvo to date* – is now on display outside the Eden Project’s Core building. The exhibit, designed to highlight sustainable living, includes planting to promote biodiversity and a permeable surface to reduce flood risks.

Expanding Nature Connections

As part of the renewed partnership, Volvo will also support the Eden Project’s Nature Connections programme, which focuses on fostering a love of nature in young children and their families. This includes doubling the number of early years sessions, offering an additional 1,250 places over the next year.

Nature Connections activities feature Little Eden, a weekly outdoor club for under-fives that takes place in the Eden Project’s wild spaces. Sessions include storytelling, outdoor games, crafts, quests, and even campfire cooking.

Andy Jasper, CEO of the Eden Project, expressed pride in the continued partnership, noting Volvo’s alignment with Eden’s mission and their role as global leaders in sustainable transport. “Our ambition is for our relationship with Volvo to grow and deepen, taking on increasing importance as we expand the reach of the Eden Project into new locations in the UK and deliver inspirational conservation projects across the world,” Andy said.

Eden Sessions 2024 Line-Up

The Eden Sessions, a highlight of Cornwall’s cultural calendar, returns this summer with an impressive line-up. Performances include Texas with KT Tunstall (12th June), Gary Barlow (18th June), The Script with Tom Walker (25th June), Deftones (26th June), and Madness (12th July). More acts will be announced, with details and tickets available at www.edensessions.com.

Volvo drivers will also have exclusive opportunities to win VIP experiences at the Eden Sessions through Volvo Car UK’s Instagram channel. Additionally, Volvo electric car owners can look forward to a special 2-for-1 entry offer to the Eden Project in 2025, with more details coming soon on the same channel.

A Shared Vision for the Future

Nicole Melillo Shaw, Managing Director of Volvo Car UK, highlighted the shared goals of the two organisations. “We are delighted to extend our partnership with The Eden Project, an acknowledgment of our shared vision and ambition for a safer, sustainable future,” Nicole said.

As the Eden Project approaches its 25th anniversary, this extended partnership underlines its commitment to sustainability, education, and creating meaningful connections with visitors.
