Eden Project to Host The Scarecrows’ Wedding This February Half Term

The Eden Project is set to bring a much loved children’s story to life this February half term, as The Scarecrows’ Wedding takes over the gardens and Biomes for nine days of family activities.

Running from Saturday 14th to Sunday 22nd February 2026, the event is inspired by the Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler book and follows the BBC One premiere of the animated adaptation on Christmas Day 2025.

Bringing The Scarecrows’ Wedding to Life

Created in partnership with Magic Light Pictures, the experience invites families to step into the world of Betty O’Barley and Harry O’Hay. Launching on Valentine’s Day, the programme encourages visitors to help prepare for what is described as “the best wedding yet”.

Activities include trails, craft workshops, storytelling, dress up, live music and dancing, all set across Eden’s Outdoor Gardens and inside both the Rainforest and Mediterranean Biomes.

Trails, Stamps and Story Moments

The Scarecrows’ Wedding trail leads visitors through multiple locations across the site, with each stop bringing moments from the story to life. Along the way, families can collect stamps, uncover lines from the book and take part in creative activities such as rope weaving.

Daily readings of The Scarecrows’ Wedding will take place in the Mediterranean Biome, followed by live band performances that turn the space into a scarecrow wedding celebration.

Animation Screenings and Craft Activities

Inside the Core building’s top floor gallery, the new BBC animation will be shown four times a day. These screenings are paired with themed craft activities, including making wedding bouquet flowers.

What Eden Has Said

Simon Townsend, Eden Project general manager, said:

“The Scarecrows’ Wedding is a much loved Julia Donaldson tale – full of romance, adventure and heart – and launching our half term programme on Valentine’s Day feels like the perfect fit. Just like Betty and Harry, adventurers can get creative to make the best wedding yet with hands on craft, music, dance and storytelling.

“The Eden Project is all about connection, bringing people together and creating wonderful memories, which makes it a natural home for celebrating the story’s gentle reminder that simple, joyful moments together matter most.”

Ice Rink Still Open for Half Term

Visitors during half term can also enjoy Cornwall’s most loved ice rink, which remains open until 22nd February. The undercover rink offers bookable skating sessions, lessons and family friendly or toddler play sessions, with prices starting from £9 per child and £11 for adults.

Tickets and Entry Prices

Admission for February half term is priced from £38 for adults and £12 for children, with under fives admitted free. Visitors receiving Universal Credit, Pension Credit or UK Legacy Credit can enter for £10.

Residents of Devon and Cornwall can also purchase a Locals’ Pass from £24.80 per adult and £10.30 per child, available year round.
