Big Barratt Cleanup: Volunteers Unite to Keep Cornwall Clean

Published On: 10 May 2024Last Updated: 10 May 2024By

In a significant environmental effort, the team at Barratt David Wilson Homes Exeter spearheaded a comprehensive litter pick in Cornwall.

This event, dubbed the Big Barratt Cleanup, is part of a broader campaign by Barratt Developments, aimed at enhancing the cleanliness and safety of communities surrounding their developments.

On the 19th of April, a dedicated group of volunteers, including board members from various departments within Barratt David Wilson Homes Exeter, came together to tackle the litter issue. Their hard work paid off impressively, with over 70 bags of rubbish, along with discarded items like a TV and a bike, being collected from various sites in Cornwall and Devon.

Community and Environmental Impact

Andrew Spicer, the Managing Director at Barratt David Wilson Homes Exeter, expressed pride in the team’s contribution: “We’re proud of the impact our team has made across all our housing developments during the Big Barratt Cleanup. Cleaner communities benefit everyone – not just the people who live on Barratt and David Wilson developments, but nature and wildlife too.”

This cleanup not only promotes a cleaner environment but also fosters a sense of community and cooperation. The involvement of CleanupUK, a charity that supports community-led litter picking efforts, has been crucial in this campaign. George Monck, Chief Executive of CleanupUK, praised the widespread participation: “We have been absolutely blown away by the incredible participation in the Big Barratt Cleanup. With all 33 Barratt divisions and 47 teams signing up, Barratt Developments PLC’s employees have made a significant impact, creating cleaner, safer, and healthier spaces in their local communities across the UK, from Aberdeen to Exeter – we could not be more delighted.”
