Mystery Can Washes Up on Cornish Beach – Is This Rubbish from Japan?

Unexpected find during litter pick at Sennen sparks curiosity

A volunteer picking up litter at the stunning Sennen Beach has stumbled upon a surprising find – a sealed, full drink can with writing that appears to be Japanese.

The unusual item was spotted during a clean-up organised by Clean Cornwall. It stood out among the usual rubbish removed from the coastline and left volunteers wondering how it ended up on the Cornish shore. Could it have travelled across vast ocean currents, or did it arrive another way?

A global problem hitting even remote beaches

Clean Cornwall said:

“It’s a powerful reminder that litter knows no borders. Even the most remote and beautiful spots like Sennen aren’t immune to global pollution.”

The organisation also thanked its volunteers for their continued efforts to keep Cornwall clean – and for occasionally uncovering a mystery or two along the way.
