Camborne is introducing a brand new festive event this year with the debut of Afina, bringing together a Christmas market and the annual Children’s Lantern Parade.
What’s Happening
From 3 pm, Chapel Street will host around a dozen festive stalls offering Christmas gifts, food and drink. They will be open until 7 pm.
At 5 pm, children taking part in the Lantern Parade will gather in the Camborne Tesco car park, where parking bays have been reserved for the event. The parade sets off at 5.30 pm on a new route that covers the full length of Trelowarren Street and Commercial Street before finishing on Basset Street.
Local schools and colleges have created Cornish themed lanterns including sailing boats, seagulls, tin mines and jellyfish. Santa will lead the parade in his sleigh.
Alicia Jouvenaar, Events Manager at Camborne Town Council, said: “Afina will be the ideal way to brighten up a long winter evening. We work hard all year to ensure this event is the best it can possibly be, and so we’re very excited to introduce Afina in 2025. We really hope the community will enjoy this fantastic, festive, free event!”
Afina means “to make beautiful” in Cornish. Camborne Town Council will share updates on their social media pages and website in the run up to the 27th.
