Chacewater Village Hall to Host Afternoon Fundraiser for Animal Rescue Charities

Published On: 1 March 2024Last Updated: 1 March 2024By

In a heartwarming effort to support local animal rescue and rehabilitation, Chacewater Village Hall is set to welcome community members and animal lovers to a special event dubbed “Afternoonsies”. Scheduled for Sunday, 10th March, from 2.30 to 5.30 pm, this event aims to gather funds for the Last Chance Hotel Animal Rescue and Re-home, High View Farm Animal Sanctuary and Wildlife Rescue, and SamBee’s Bat Care.

“Afternoonsies,” inspired by the concept of elevensies but set in the afternoon, promises attendees a delightful array of drinks, nibbles, and tasty treats courtesy of the Be Kind Coffee Caravan from Hayle. The event will feature a pop-up fundraiser, a preloved sale, and a social gathering, all in one.

The highlight of the afternoon is expected to be a raffle with prizes that include treats donated by the wholefoods workers cooperative Essential Trading Company, goodies from the Cornish Seaweed Company, and a cake created and donated by the Be Kind Coffee Caravan. Entry to the event is free, encouraging a broad participation from the community.

The need for funds has become more pressing following the recent closure of the Last Chance Hotel Charity Shop, which has led to a significant drop in funds. The event at Chacewater Village Hall is seen as a critical step towards supporting the ongoing costs associated with caring for domestic rescues, sanctuary animals, wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, and the bats in SamBee’s bat hospital.

Moreover, the funds raised are urgently needed for the new build of the animal’s hospital and bat flight cage, which are essential for the Spring influx and baby season. The community’s support for this event could provide a much-needed boost to these charities, ensuring they continue their vital work in animal rescue and rehabilitation.
