Cornwall’s Biggest Christmas Show Reveals Star-Studded Cast for Aladdin
A New Cornish Adventure for the Festive Season
Hall for Cornwall has unveiled the cast and youth ensemble for this year’s pantomime, Aladdin, which will run from Friday 5th December to Saturday 3rd January. The production is the latest from Cornwall Playhouse Productions, following on from successes such as Fisherman’s Friends The Musical and Peter Pan.
Presented in association with Falmouth University and flying together with Cornwall Airport Newquay, Aladdin promises a brand-new festive adventure filled with music, laughter and plenty of Cornish touches.
Leading the Magic Carpet Ride
Local favourite Edward Rowe, also known as Kernow King, returns as both Dame and co-writer. He has written the show alongside Musical Director Richard Healey.
The full cast includes:
-
Sara Markland as panto baddie Aberzennor. Sara last appeared on the Cornwall Playhouse stage as Tinkerbell in Peter Pan, and has also appeared in Casualty, Kingdom and Hotel Babylon.
-
Gareth Cooper, returning as Aladdin’s hapless brother Willy Washaway, after his crowd-pleasing performance as Harri Co’vert in Jack and the Beanstalk.
-
Alexander Jude as Aladdin.
-
Jasmine Cole as Princess Jasmine, with credits including Fame and Heathers.
-
Mali Wen Davis as the Spirit of the Ring.
Joining them in the ensemble are Georgina Skitt, Harriet Sanderson, Joe Birch-Scanlan, Maya Khatri Chhetri, Reece Bailey-Davies and Trevor Lin.
Julien Boast, Executive Producer of Aladdin and Hall for Cornwall CEO, said:
“Aladdin will be full of fun, but this is serious moment for Cornwall Playhouse Productions as we continue to forge a path for largescale homegrown productions in the South West. I couldn’t have wished for a stronger cast, led by Edward Rowe, and I know this powerful blend of talent, experience and home-grown heroes will once again win the hearts of thousands of families across Cornwall.”
Spotlight on Cornwall’s Young Talent
A group of twelve local young performers will join the professional cast as part of the Youth Ensemble. The rising stars named are Belle, Bodhi, Caja, Ella, Eva Rose, Joel, Kerra, Lucca, Murray, Noah, Poppy and Tigerlily.
Split into two teams across the 42-show run, the young ensemble will gain hands-on theatre experience under director Nick Evans, known for nurturing talent including a young Tom Holland in Billy Elliot.
Producer and Hall for Cornwall Deputy Creative Director, Helen Tiplady, said:
“One of the best things about our Christmas show is that we get to open up the stage to Cornwall’s young people and invite them to join us there.”
She added:
“The opportunity for this Youth Ensemble is exactly what HfC’s Get Creative programme is all about. We’re a home for creative ambition in Cornwall, and we get to show young people what their future could look like, while giving them a place right here and now where they feel seen, valued, and know that they truly belong.”

Book Early Before Tickets Vanish
Following high demand, four extra performances have been added to the run. Tickets are available at hallforcornwall.co.uk or by calling the Box Office on 01872 262466.
