Cornwall’s Rewind Radio Christmas Toy Appeal Delivers Nearly 4,000 Toys

Cornwall’s Rewind Radio is marking the success of its 2025 Christmas Toy Appeal after an extraordinary response from across the Duchy saw almost 4,000 toys donated for children in need.

The appeal, sponsored by Hawkins Motor Group, launched in October and invited listeners and businesses to support children facing poverty or disadvantage during the festive season.

Thousands of Toys Donated Across Cornwall

A total of 3,942 toys were donated through the appeal. To make giving as easy as possible, 50 donation boxes were placed in supportive businesses across Cornwall, from Plymouth to Penzance.

Thanks to this generosity, thousands of toys have already been distributed to Children’s Hospice South West, Penhaligon’s Friends, and the Children’s Ward at the Royal Cornwall Hospital.

“Nothing Short of Incredible”

Richard Woods, Managing Director of Cornwall’s Rewind Radio, said the scale of support had exceeded all expectations.

“The response to this year’s Christmas Toy Appeal has been nothing short of incredible. The generosity shown by our listeners, local businesses and communities across Cornwall has truly blown us away. To collect nearly 4,000 toys is an amazing achievement and will make a real difference to thousands of children this Christmas. We are determined to ensure that every remaining toy finds a loving home and brings a smile to a child’s face.”

Appeal Reaches Capacity but Toys Remain

Cornwall’s Rewind Radio has now reached the maximum number of toys that its three appointed charities are able to accept. However, thousands of toys are still available, and the station is keen to make sure every gift reaches a child who needs it.

As a result, applications are now open to additional organisations and individuals who support children aged 0 to 18 who are facing financial difficulties, challenges, or disadvantage.

Who Can Apply for Remaining Toys

Applications are open to:

  • Registered charities supporting children aged 0 to 18

  • Schools or pre-schools supporting children aged 0 to 18

  • Care workers supporting children aged 0 to 18

Applicants will need to provide proof of organisational details and a copy of identification when collecting toys. Once requests have been verified, successful applicants will be contacted to arrange a collection time.

Those wishing to be considered can apply via the form on the Cornwall’s Rewind Radio website at rewindradio.co.uk/toyappeal.

A Thank You to Cornwall

Cornwall’s Rewind Radio has thanked everyone involved in supporting the appeal, including listeners, businesses, volunteers, and sponsors. The station says the response has been overwhelming and that both the team and the charities involved are immensely grateful for the generosity shown across Cornwall.
